Job description

Pay Range:

$19.20 - $26.40

All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months.All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time.

Pay Rate: $25/hour

Position Summary:

The Hardware Engineering team is a part of the development team and continuously pushes out new products, instruments, consumable devices, and manufacturing automation solutions to generate growth and value for the company. You will be working with a diverse, dynamic, curious, fun loving, and innovative team to brainstorm ideas and apply your engineering skills towards our new products.

This position provides great opportunities to obtain hands-on experience for good engineering practice and disciplines. It will give you exposure to common engineering product management tools useful for any industry. Previous interns have owned their own projects and implemented features that are included in final product designs. We have many members who are passionate about mentoring interns and will introduce you to other functions of the company to give you a well-rounded summer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documentation using our product lifecycle management system

  • Design, build, and test components in instruments, manufacturing automation, and consumable devices

  • Data analysis and presentation of results, status, and conclusions

  • Attending meetings to brainstorm and contribute ideas

  • Attend meetings and seminars to understand different departmental functions and impact to business

Program Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, physics, Bioengineering, or an equivalent

  • Must have completed (at minimum) the sophomore year of college

  • Must be able to work full-time in person during the duration of the internship program

Experience Qualifications:

  • Strong logical thinking and good problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent data analysis and presentation skills

  • Ability to learn and act independently with good judgement of when to get help

  • Experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Familiarity to programming languages (Python, Adruino, Labview) a bonus

  • Familiarity to CAD (Solidworks) a bonus

  • Familiarity with 3D printing techniques, soldering, and electronics a bonus
