Franklin Brothers Landscaping is seeking an experienced Hardscape Installation Crew Leader to lead a 2-3 person crew installing high quality residential hardscape projects throughout the Indianapolis area.

We are currently looking for a Hardscape Installation Crew Leader to help lead an installation team and deliver exceptional hardscape projects for our clients.


Position Summary

The Hardscape Crew Leader is responsible for leading a small crew in the installation of paver patios, retaining walls, irrigation, landscape lighting, and other landscape installations.


This role combines hands-on landscape construction work with crew leadership responsibilities, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to company quality standards.


Crew leaders work closely with management to coordinate job site activities, guide team members, and maintain a high level of craftsmanship on every project.


This position is ideal for experienced landscapers who enjoy leading a team, solving problems on-site, and taking pride in delivering high-quality hardscape installations.


Key Responsibilities

Crew Leaders oversee the day-to-day operations of a hardscape installation crew and are responsible for ensuring projects are completed successfully.

  • Leading, supervising, and working alongside a hardscape installation on residential landscape projects and occasional commercial projects.
  • Installing landscape features including paver patios, paver driveways, drainage, retaining walls, sod, plantings, irrigation, and landscape lighting.
  • Coordinating daily work tasks and ensuring efficient use of crew time.
  • Training and mentoring crew members on proper landscaping techniques and helping team members to develop their skills and grow their confidence in their work.
  • Ensuring work meets company quality standards and project specifications.
  • Maintaining organized, clean, and safe job sites.
  • Operating landscaping tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Communicating with management regarding project progress, material needs, and any job site challenges.
  • Perform regular seasonal maintenance duties, such as watering, deadheading, pruning, trimming, so forth.


Work Environment

This position requires being physically active, working outdoors, and in a fast-paced team environment.

Typical work activities may include:

  • Digging, grading, and preparing patio bases.
  • Lifting and moving heavy hardscape materials.
  • Cutting concrete pavers and stones.
  • Measuring, taking grades, and material planning.
  • Reading landscape designs and construction plans.
  • Operating landscaping tools and equipment.
  • Working on residential properties and landscape construction sites.
  • Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods of time.

Required Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Highly preferred)
  • 5+ years of hardscape construction experience.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to lead by example, self motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
  • Skilled in operating skid steers, mini excavators, and similar equipment.
  • Confident driving a truck and trailer.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • CDL is not required but is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work daily.
  • Must pass background check and drug test.
  • Meet all applicable Federal and State labor laws.


Preferred Experience

Candidates with the following experience will be strongly considered for this position:

  • Experience leading or supervising a crew is preferred.
  • Ability to read landscape plans and follow project layouts.
  • Possess understanding of typical order of operations throughout softscape and hardscape installation projects.
  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment care or light repairs.


Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • Start time: 7:30 AM
  • End time: 4:30-5:30 PM
  • Hours may vary by season.
  • Occasional Saturdays may be required during peak season.
