Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown
Location: Torrance, CA (Harbor-UCLA Medical Center)
Position Type: Travel Assignment
Shift: 3x12 Evenings (36 Hours/Week)
Assignment Dates: 08/13/2026 - 10/10/2026 (8 Weeks)
Weekly Pay Range: $2,012.34 - $2,367.46 / week
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Registered Nurse for an 8-week travel assignment at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions, heart disorders, post-cardiac procedures, arrhythmias, and heart failure requiring continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level nursing care and life-saving interventions for PCU/Stepdown patients ranging from initial assessment through end-of-life care.
  • Monitor telemetry continuously and accurately interpret complex ECG rhythms.
  • Execute intense clinical interventions for patients recovering from surgery or suffering from acute, life-threatening conditions.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation in accordance with LA County DHS standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent PCU / Stepdown / Telemetry experience in a Level I Trauma, metropolitan teaching facility serving a diverse patient population.
  • Licensure: Active California RN License in good standing.
  • Certifications Required:
    • AHA BLS
    • NIHSS Certification
    • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MAB) or CPI
    • LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City certified)
  • Clearance & Onboarding:
    • Must complete LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to start date.
    • Onboarding Requirement: Must arrive in LA on Sunday prior to orientation to complete Live Scan fingerprinting at Harbor HR on Monday.
  • Commitment: Fully committed to completing the 8-week contract duration.
