Roof Above is a comprehensive homeless service provider.  Our mission is to unite our community to end homelessness, one life at a time.  Focusing on individuals experiencing homelessness, Roof Above offers a continuum of services ranging from street outreach to a Day Services Center, emergency shelter, and housing. Roof Above’s services and programs reach approximately 1,400 individuals each day across all our services combined.  

POSITION SUMMARY

The Donor Relations Manager (DRM) is a member of the Philanthropy Department, and reports to the Director of Development (DOD). This position supports initiative that drive Roof Above's annual fund and donor engagement strategies through the coordination of fundraising initiatives, stewardship activities, donor communications, and special projects. The DRM plays an important role in creating meaningful donor experiences, strengthening donor retention and engagement, and ensuring donors remain connected to the impact of their philanthropy. Success in this role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication, and a collaborative approach to supporting the work of the Philanthropy team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of annual fund campaigns that increase donor acquisition, retention, participation, and philanthropic revenue.
  • Assist the Director of Development with the coordination and execution of annual fund activities, including direct mail appeals, stewardship campaigns, special events, and donor reporting.
  • Prepare reports and help track donor giving trends, including participation, revenue, retention, acquisition, attrition, and gift upgrades and downgrades, to support fundraising planning and decision-making.
  • Create and maintain a calendar of stewardship activities to ensure timely donor acknowledgments, communications, and engagement opportunities throughout the year.
  • Coordinate the production of annual fund marketing and stewardship materials in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team and other internal partners.
  • Support donor stewardship efforts by coordinating thank-you calls, handwritten notes, personalized correspondence, donor recognition activities, and other appreciation initiatives.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for donor and volunteer engagement activities, including True Blessings, cultivation and stewardship events, educational opportunities, and other Philanthropy initiatives as assigned by the Director of Development.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Ensure timely, personalized, and meaningful communication with donors to deepen engagement and long-term support.
  • Support leadership and best practices related to donor data management and integrity.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality donor experiences.
  • Support broader Philanthropy team initiatives and projects as directed by the Director of Development.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree required, and a minimum of three years of professional fundraising or development experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage donors, partners, and colleagues effectively.
  • Proficiency with the full Microsoft Office suite and experience working with donor databases or CRM systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Commitment to delivering an outstanding experience to donors, volunteers, and clients.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational discipline.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to evolving priorities and opportunities.
