Classification: Non-Exempt

Department: Transportation
Reports to: Operations Manager

Summary/Objective

Handlin Jobs commercial driver is responsible for ensuring the transport of company and customer cargo to Client Site Facilities. The driver is responsible for the loading, securing, transport, and delivery of cargo safely and efficiently. The driver is also responsible for ensuring that the company vehicle assigned to the employee is maintained in road worthy condition and that he/she obeys all applicable vehicle laws in the state of California.

Driver Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive and operate trucks.
  • Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps.
  • Pre-inspect truck.
  • Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed.
  • Load and unload cargo.
  • Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times.
  • Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
  • Fuel Vehicle via company issued Fuel card for Diesel and DEF.

Position/Work Hours:

· Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

· Early or late shift work and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Physical Requirements

  • The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Operate a motor vehicle
  • The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Load/unload product using pallet jack and/or forklift.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Truck Driver Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3 years if experience driving in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat)
  • Experience and knowledge of traffic laws/ DOT regulations
  • Pallet jack experience required; forklift experience preferred
  • Able to pass random drug tests
  • Clean driving record
  • No DUI/DWI convictions in the past seven years
  • Listening and verbal communication skills
  • Dependability

Education, Experience, and Age Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent

  • 21 years or older
  • At least six months of experience required
  • Current Class A Commercial license
  • Must have recent H6 (K4) from DMV

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional warehouse and public environment. This role routinely uses forklifts, and other mechanical lifting devices to load and offload cargo. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Travel

This position requires travel to customer facilities in California.
