Description:
  • Sewing technicians are required to execute prescribed hand-sewing techniques such as running stitch, whip stitch and over hand knots in the process of building heart valve replacements and implants.
  • Hand sewing techniques are to be performed under a microscope. You will be expected to sew material to a frame that is ~1mm thick.
  • Build activities are to be recorded and documented.
  • Previous experience working with medical device assembly is welcomed but not necessary.
  • Application of technical ability, fine motor skills, and attention to detail to execute the production of surgically implanted replacement valves.
  • Solutions mixing and experience in handling tissue is a plus.
  • Agile, and able to perform different tasks throughout the day as priorities change.
  • Use of Google suite, Microsoft365 and comparable computer systems may be used.
  • This position is 100% on-site, located in our Santa Cruz, CA. facility.
Skills:
  • Familiarity with a variety of hand sewing tools such as suture, straight and swaged needles, needle holders, scissors and microscopes.
  • Being open to training is a must- Eager to learn with good communication skills. We’re looking for candidates with a positive attitude who are honest with their skills and abilities.
  • Precise adherence to written manufacturing process instructions (MPI’s) through the understanding of written and picture instructions.
  • Capable communicator able to carry out activities described in written instructions.
  • Ability to work a full shift using a microscope.
  • Detail oriented, and able to transcribe written information to production documentation.
  • Previous experience working within a Quality System for the production of medical devices will set you apart from the field!

  • Competent in working using a microscope
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.
