Job description

Job Overview
AEVEX Aerospace is looking for a warehouse material handler that specializes in crating of finished product. This individual will be responsible for custom shipping crates, crate kits, and general palletizing of oversized equipment using established processes and procedures. This individual will be tasked with being accurate and making sure all crates and pallets that leave our facility will arrive in the same condition as when they left our facility.
Essential Functions
  • Perform routine packing of various aviation equipment shipping domestic and international
  • Apply appropriate shipping documentation and labels to outbound shipments
  • Follow packaging procedures to ensure the safety of all shipments; includes polishing and cleaning all units, measuring boxes, weighing, cubing, and banding
  • Measuring and cutting of wood and assembly of the entire crate used for packing nonstandard/over-sized items
  • Packs orders for domestic and international shipment as required for the transportation mode per company guidelines. Builds appropriate boxing/crating when and as required.
  • Stocks materials or items on assigned racks, shelves, or in bins pending verification of stocking documentation. Reports inventory variances relative to stocking transactions.
  • Unpacks, checks quantity and condition of incoming parts and materials.
  • Maintain material inventory including lumber, fasteners, and other material used in the shipping process
  • Check products for defects and accuracy, report and replace any defective item before packing
  • Follow shipment receiving procedures ensuring the right items have been delivered and Receiving Clerks notified
  • Ensure that serial and batch numbers match the product and Sales Order
  • Coordinate yard space for inbound/outbound shipments and position units in proper storage areas
  • Operate forklift to transport shipments from the storage area to the crating area

  • Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • The ability to complete multiple challenging tasks/projects within agreed time frames and with the appropriate level of critical thinking and quality.
  • Knowledge of the safe operation of basic power tools, i.e. saws, drill motors air compressors.
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic carpentry skills and experience using hand and power tools as necessary
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Possess a valid in-state driver's license and possess an acceptable safe driving record
  • Be able to operate a forklift and complete our internal forklift training program
  • Current forklift certification required.
Education / Certifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience
  • Two years' experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
