HAND CUTTER JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary of Role & Responsibilities
The Poultry Cutter position is a member of the Production Department. The Poultry Cutter position is chiefly responsible for cutting, trimming and sizing poultry products.
Essential Job Functions/Duties
Below is a brief outline of the essential job functions and duties, which may be adjusted by management from time to time.
1. Use knives to cut and trim meat.
2. Clean, trim, slice and section carcasses for future processing.
3. Cut and trim meat to customer specification
4. Remove parts, such as skin and bones from carcass.
5. Inspect meat products for defects, bruises or blemishes and remove them along with any excess fat.
6. Provide support to floor when needed.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
1. High school graduate or equivalent, but relevant work experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Preferred Skills
1. Prior production experience preferred, but not required.
2. Active Listening - Giving full attention to what Material Leads and Supervisor are saying, taking time to understand points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
3. Good oral and written communication skills - talking to others to convey information effectively.
4. Good analytical and problems solving skills - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
5. Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
6. Good computer skills preferred, but not required.
Physical/Mental Requirements
1. Will primarily work in a production environment, and must be able to work in a wet and cold environment without issue.
2. May be required to lift, push, pull 40 pounds within an 8 hour or more period.
3. May be required to stand or walk within an 8 hour or more period.
4. Must spend time using hands to handle, control, cut and feel products within an 8 hour or more period.
5. Must wear PPE such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection.
6. Must be analytical and think critically.

8. Must be able to follow instructions and provide results.
9. Must be a self-starter.
10. Must maintain professionalism and grow leaders through positive reinforcement.
11. Must possess and present a strong work ethic.
