What is a hammock?

Hammocks are sling-like beds or seats, usually made from fabric, rope, or netting, suspended between two points such as trees or posts. They are popularly used for relaxation, sleeping, or lounging both outdoors and indoors. Originally developed by indigenous people in Central and South America, hammocks have become popular worldwide for camping, backyard leisure, and even as alternative beds. Modern hammocks come in various styles and materials to suit different needs, from portable camping hammocks to decorative home models.
