Description:

The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for designing, coordinating, and facilitating educational programming that promotes independence, life skills, employment readiness, health, and community integration for participants served through New Leaf Industries. This position develops curriculum and delivers engaging learning experiences for Day Habilitation participants, THRYVE Centers, Westside Domestic Violence Shelter, ELEO Pregnancy & Family Resource Center, and other community programs through classroom instruction, virtual learning, workshops, and individualized coaching.

Serving as the organization's subject matter expert in adult learning and curriculum development, this role ensures educational programming is evidence-based, person-centered, and consistent across multiple program sites.

Requirements:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Curriculum Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain curriculum, lesson plans, facilitator guides, and participant      materials. 
  • Create scope and sequence documents to ensure structured learning pathways. 
  • Develop educational content aligned with Day Habilitation standards and person-centered goals.      
  • Evaluate and continuously improve curriculum using participant feedback and program outcomes. 

Instruction & Facilitation

  • Facilitate engaging in-person and virtual classes using adult learning principles. 
  • Provide individualized coaching and one-on-one instruction as needed. 
  • Adapt instructional methods to accommodate varying learning styles and abilities. 
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environment. 

Program Coordination

  • Coordinate educational programming and training calendars across THRYVE Centers and community      sites. 
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure educational services support participant goals. 
  • Assist with planning new educational initiatives, workshops, and community learning opportunities. 
  • Coordinate guest instructors, educational resources, and learning materials. 

Documentation & Quality Improvement

  • Maintain attendance, participant progress, and educational documentation. 
  • Monitor learning outcomes and recommend program improvements. 
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and support continuous quality improvement      initiatives. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, curriculum development, and instructional design. 
  • Strong classroom facilitation and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to teach individuals with diverse learning needs and backgrounds. 
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, virtual meeting platforms, and educational technology. 
  • Ability to travel in company vehicles between program locations as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation, Public Health, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Two (2) years of experience in curriculum development, education, training, or adult learning. 
  • CA license and eligible for company insurance coverage

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Day Habilitation, CalAIM, behavioral health, community-based services, or nonprofit education. 
  • Experience facilitating both in-person and virtual instruction. 
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and adult learning methodologies. 
  • Experience developing standardized curriculum and educational resources. 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and instruct for extended periods. 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. 
  • Driving between program locations in multiple counties. 

Frequent use of computers and presentation equipment.
