Hapi developers are software professionals who specialize in building web applications and APIs using the Hapi.js framework, a rich Node.js framework known for its powerful plugin system and configuration-driven approach. They design, develop, and maintain server-side applications, focusing on security, scalability, and maintainability. Hapi developers often work on RESTful APIs, real-time services, and enterprise-grade backend systems, leveraging Hapi’s features such as input validation, authentication, and routing. Their expertise helps organizations deliver robust and efficient web solutions.

What are some common challenges faced when developing applications using the Hapi.js framework?

When working with the Hapi.js framework, developers often encounter challenges such as mastering its rich plugin system and configuration-driven approach, which can be different from other Node.js frameworks. Additionally, structuring larger applications for scalability and maintainability may require thoughtful planning and familiarity with Hapi's routing and authentication mechanisms. Collaborating within teams also involves adhering to best practices for reusability and ensuring consistent implementation of validation and error handling. However, these challenges are excellent opportunities for learning and growth as you deepen your expertise in modern backend development.

Hapi - Senior Program Manager

Aquiva and Hapi

Chicago, IL

Full-time

Posted 18 days ago

Job description

About Hapi

Hapi is a cloud-based data streaming and integration platform built for the hospitality industry. Through open APIs and native connectors to major property management systems, Hapi gives hotels, management companies, and technology partners secure, real-time access to reservation, profile, and stay data. The platform supports more than 14,000 hotels worldwide, including leading global brands.

As Hapi expands its product portfolio, including Hapi Automate and the Hapi Data Platform, we are growing the team that coordinates how those products are released and brought to market.

Role Summary

We are hiring a Senior Program Manager to own the coordination of product releases and go-to-market (GTM) activities across Hapi's product lines. This is a cross-functional role that connects product, engineering, marketing, sales, and customer success to ensure that releases ship predictably and that each launch is supported by a clear, well-executed GTM plan.

The ideal candidate has managed complex, multi-stakeholder technology programs, ideally in hospitality or enterprise SaaS, and is comfortable operating as the central point of coordination between technical and commercial teams. This is an individual contributor role with broad influence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Release Program Management

• Release planning: Coordinate release schedules across Hapi Automate, the Hapi Data Platform, and other product lines, maintaining a single, visible release calendar.

• Release execution: Run release ceremonies, track readiness across engineering, QA, and documentation, and surface risks and dependencies early.

• Process: Define and maintain release processes, intake workflows, and readiness criteria so that launches are repeatable and predictable.

• Issue management: Act as the escalation point for release blockers, driving issues to resolution with the relevant owners.

Go-to-Market Coordination

• GTM planning: Partner with product marketing, sales, and customer success to build and execute GTM plans for each release, covering positioning, enablement, and customer communication.

• Launch readiness: Coordinate launch readiness across internal teams and external partners, ensuring sales and support are equipped before features reach customers.

• Post-launch: Track adoption and launch outcomes, gather feedback, and feed learnings back into the product and release process.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Alignment: Serve as the connective tissue between product, engineering, and commercial teams, keeping stakeholders aligned on priorities, timelines, and status.

• Reporting: Communicate program status clearly to leadership, including progress, risks, and decisions needed.

• Governance: Secure cross-functional approvals from teams such as security, legal, and data privacy where required for a release.

Required Qualifications

• Five or more years of program or project management experience in technology, SaaS, or hospitality technology environments.

• Demonstrated success coordinating product releases or large-scale deployments across multiple teams and stakeholders.

• Experience planning or supporting go-to-market activities, including launch coordination and cross-functional enablement.

• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage many concurrent workstreams and prioritize effectively.

• Comfort working with both technical teams (engineering, product) and commercial teams (sales, marketing, customer success).

• Experience managing vendor or partner relationships through evaluation, selection, and integration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in the hospitality industry or familiarity with hotel systems such as PMS, POS, or CRM platforms.

• Experience with data integration, APIs, or platform products.

• Formal program or product management training or certification (for example, a recognized product management or PMP credential).

• Based in or near Chicago, IL.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first six months, the Senior Program Manager will have established a single, reliable release calendar across product lines, introduced a consistent release and GTM readiness process, and become the trusted point of coordination between Hapi's product and commercial teams. Releases will ship on schedule with launch plans that sales, support, and customers can depend on.
