STATUS: Full Time/ Non-exempt (37.5 hour/week)

HOURLY RATE: up to $25.00


SUMMARY

The Volunteer Transportation Growth Manager oversees the establishment of new Give a Lift locations across Monroe County. ย Give a Lift (GAL) ย is a volunteer driver program providing essential transportation services to residents of Monroe County aged 60+. The goal will be to increase the capacity of volunteer transportation in underrepresented areas of the county with emphasis on City of Rochester by building on, and expanding beyond, the existing programs. Entrepreneurial spirit, experience collaborating with diverse constituents, and comfort in the public realm needed. Demonstrated experience working with volunteers required.ย 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.0 Development of new volunteer transportation programs

  • Create affiliations with identified communities and affinity groups leadership, potential social groups, colleges, faith communities, neighborhood centers, and human service organizations.
  • Establish program serving underrepresented areas of the City of Rochester.
  • Establish programs for communities lacking GAL representation or affinity group seeking assistance
  • Effectively implement "Assisted Rides" technology as program management tool

2.0 Volunteer Coordination at launch

  • Screen, orient and assign volunteers.
  • Develop volunteer leadership training for "hand off" of location coordination duties
  • Manage volunteer placement.
  • Maintain files, data, and time sheets.ย 
  • Completes reporting requirements.
  • Works with GAL Manager, AmeriCorps Senior Volunteer and TRAC services.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment plan including outreach presentations.ย 
  • Participate in the agency volunteer management committee.
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices in volunteer management.

3.0 Provides Support to GAL Locations in the event of loss of leadership

  • Provides Coordinator level leadership in the event of loss of role
  • Assists in securing replacement for roles abandoned
  • Works with locations to ensure smooth transitions of leadership when notice of retirement is provided

4.0 Participates as a member of the inter-agency team.

  • Participate in all staff meetings (departmental and agency) and training, including cultural competency and corporate compliance.
  • Accepts and seeks guidance and supervision from the Director for Regional Mobility Management.

5.0 Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: BS degree, or equivalent experience

Experience: 2 years' experience working in volunteerism, and/or recruitment, as well as experience working with age and economically diverse populations


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.ย 
  • Computer skills and comfort with modern technology
  • Strong organizational skills necessary.
  • Must be able manage multiple projects at the same time.ย 
  • Valid NYS driver's license required.
  • Ability to travel around the county for outreach.ย 
  • Availability to attend evening and weekend events as needed.ย
