What you’ll do

  • Overall leadership responsibility for quality execution of projects maximizing contract value consistent with company financial, strategic and program objectives.
  • Act as focal point for all communications with the customer during project execution.
  • Direct internal company resources in a leadership role as part of the project team consisting of Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Financial Controlling personnel / departments.
  • Demonstrate ability to successfully meet project objectives and fully understand scope which is accomplished by involving other SMS group organizations, management, and consortium members and assure work is performed according to the SMS group project management guidelines.
  • Prepares plans including schedules, personnel requirements, and budgets.
  • Monitors project performance against plans and objectives, analyzes results, prepares project status reports including recommendations and action plans to improve results
  • Overall responsibility for activities related to scope change negotiations, timely invoicing, and project closeout.
  • Analyze financial data.
  • Ability to travel extensively both domestically and abroad as project requires

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science/management discipline preferred with 3 plus years of experience.
  • Above education requirement may be offset with 5 plus years of prior experience.
  • Additional preferred education / training / certification: MBA, PMI certification (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a Project Management position and knowledge of common project management procedures is preferred
  • Experience requirements may be partially replaced by verifiable experience as a Project Engineer, Contract Administrator, or other related functions.
