Their primary duties include setting strategic goals, coordinating projects, managing budgets, and ensuring that team leaders are effectively guiding their teams. Group Managers often serve as a bridge between upper management and team leaders, communicating company objectives and ensuring alignment across groups. They also focus on performance management, employee development, and fostering collaboration among teams.

How does a group manager typically balance strategic planning with day-to-day team management responsibilities?

Group Managers are often tasked with both setting long-term strategic goals and overseeing daily operations for their teams. This means they must allocate time for high-level planning—such as setting objectives, forecasting, and aligning with organizational leadership—while also supporting their teams through regular meetings, performance reviews, and problem-solving sessions. Successful Group Managers prioritize effective delegation, clear communication, and regular check-ins to ensure both strategy and execution are aligned. This balance requires adaptability, strong organizational skills, and the ability to shift focus between immediate needs and future planning.
