The Black Horse Pike Regional School District has an opening for a Maintenance Groundskeeper at Triton High School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the listed tasks and responsibilities.
  2. Black Seal Boiler license must be obtained within one year of hire.
  3. NJ Fertilizer Applicator Certification must be obtained within one year of hire date.
  4. Valid NJ Driver's License

REPORTS TO: Building foreman, Assistant Business Administrator, and Principal.
JOB GOAL: To maintain the school grounds and grounds machinery and equipment in a condition of safety, neatness and aesthetic.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES;
  1. Mow, edge, and rake lawn areas as needed.
  2. Keep snow removal equipment in good operating condition and assist with snow removal.
  3. Remain available for snow removal and other school emergencies.
  4. Spread salt, sand, calcium chloride or other substances on icy walks and parking areas to prevent slipping and to speed melting and evaporation.
  5. Adjust, lubricate, change oil and filters and otherwise maintain grounds equipment and vehicles including but not limited to trucks, mowers, tractors, front end loaders, plows, spreaders, irrigation equipment, edgers, harrows, rakes, seeders, dragging devices, rollers, and trimmers.
  6. Maintain, repair, and paint fixed outdoor units such as bleachers, goals, cages, fences, and outdoor athletic equipment.
  7. Perform preventative maintenance on all exterior surfaces and fences and wash window exteriors per supervisor of buildings & grounds.
  8. Police grounds on a daily basis and remove debris, litter, refuse, leaves, graffiti, and broken glass promptly.

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL (continued)
  1. Maintain and Update School Marquee.
  2. Prepare playing fields, grounds, and other outdoor facilities for athletics, school activities, and outside organization use of facilities.
  3. Prune trees and trim shrubs.
  4. Connect sprinkling and irrigation systems to water turf, shrubs, and flowerbeds.
  5. Plant seeds, bulbs, seedlings, shrubs, and trees.
  6. Cultivate, fertilize, mulch, and weed shrubbery and flowerbeds on a regular basis.
  7. Re-seed, mist and hand mow bare turf areas.
  8. Set and remove goal equipment as directed by the athletic director and the supervisor of health and physical education.
  9. Assist with indoor cleaning and maintenance during cold or inclement weather as directed by the supervisor.
  10. Inspect plantings and turf for evidence of insects, fungi, and other forms of damage and sprays or dusts the infested areas with a safe substance (Cost of training and license to be borne by the Board).
  11. Raise and lower flag daily when weather permits.
  12. Replace and patch sidewalks, driveways, tennis and basketball courts, and parking lots.
  13. Assist with supervision on days or nights when football games are scheduled at home. Compensatory time the same week shall be granted for such duty served on Thanksgiving Day.
  14. Assist with emergencies as directed by the supervisor, including weekends and holidays. When called in on weekends or holidays compensation shall be at time and a half or compensating time will be granted the same week, at the option of the maintenance person.

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL (continued)
  1. Design and paint school logos on all, in-season, sports fields.
  2. Lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. overhead and pick up objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  3. Perform other tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Facilities Director, the foreman or a school or central administrator.
  4. Work with contracted vendors for all grounds equipment, turf management, and exterior facilities repair/improvements.

Salary based on experience and the BHP Salary Guide - between $39,577 - $81,843

Per policy 4125, the district will give preference to qualified individuals who are residents of the Black Horse Pike Regional School District.
