About the Job:
Ten Pin Alley is seeking an experienced and passionate Bowling Pro Shop Technician to join our team. This role is the face of our pro shop, serving bowlers of all skill levels with expert equipment knowledge, precision drilling, and outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate takes pride in their craft, builds lasting relationships with customers, and stays current with the latest bowling technology and trends. This is a full time position, some nights and weekends are a MUST.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Services:
  • Drill and fit bowling balls to customer hand measurements using industry-standard techniques.
  • Perform ball surface maintenance including resurfacing, polishing, and ball adjustments.
  • Install and replace finger inserts, thumb slugs, and grip tape.
  • Assess and advise customers on ball selection based on their style, lane conditions, and skill level and help with bowlers other equipment needs.

Sales & Customer Service:
  • Assist customers in selecting balls, shoes, bags, and accessories from current inventory.
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations on equipment to improve customer performance.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
  • Build and maintain loyal customer relationships through consistent, friendly service.
  • Handle customer inquiries, returns, and complaints professionally and promptly.

Inventory & Shop Operations:
  • Maintain neat and accurate inventory levels and assist with ordering new stock.
  • Receive, price, and display incoming merchandise.
  • Keep the pro shop clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times.
  • Track service orders and communicate turnaround times clearly to customers.
  • Open and/or close the pro shop per operational schedule.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a bowling pro shop or related retail/service environment.
  • Proficiency in ball drilling using conventional and specialty layouts.
  • Working knowledge of bowling equipment brands, ball motion technology, and coverstock chemistry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.

Preferred:
  • IBPSIA (International Bowling Pro Shop & Instruction Association) certification.
  • Experience with CAM/CNC drilling equipment.
  • Knowledge of current tournament and recreational ball market.
  • Prior retail or customer-facing sales experience.
