Job description

Job Overview

This role is responsible for creating new and updating existing detailed part, subassembly, and final assembly drawings, as well as providing CAD support for engineering specifications. The Design Drafter will specialize in developing accurate, highquality 3D engineering models and drawings that support manufacturing and product development.

A Day In The Life
  • Develop, revise, and maintain highquality 2D and 3D detailed drawings for components and bushing assemblies.
  • Translate engineering concepts into clear, accurate drawings by strategically planning views, sections, and details that effectively communicate part geometry.
  • Apply precise dimensions and tolerances to drawings, including those with complex features and tight requirements.
  • Review and validate completed drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with input specifications prior to engineering release.
  • Create, update, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the SAP system.
  • Process engineering change requests efficiently while ensuring documentation accuracy and revision control.
  • Update and maintain detail, assembly, customer drawings, and supporting engineering specification documents.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other crossfunctional teams to support customer needs and operational goals.
  • Participate in a variety of engineering support activities, including occasional time spent in the factory and visits to local vendors to support design and production efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications and will be discussed during the interview process. The salary range for this role is $55,000-$68,800 per year. This position offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong foundation in drafting principles with a working knowledge of engineering terminology and documentation standards.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and/or SolidWorks, or other comparable CAD platforms.
  • Proven ability to produce accurate, highquality 2D and 3D engineering or technical drawings.
  • Solid computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and take initiative in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Basic familiarity with SAP is preferred; however, onthejob SAP training will be provided. Prior exposure to SAP functions such as Material Master and Bills of Materials (BOMs) is a plus.

Education

  • Associate degree preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to view and interpret detailed drawings, diagrams, and computer screens, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching may be required.
  • Ability to lift and carry light materials (up to 20 pounds) on an occasional basis.
  • Occasional travel within the facility, including time spent in the manufacturing area, which may require appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to visit local vendors or suppliers on an occasional basis.
