Description
As our Construction and Maintenance Technician, you will help build and maintain our network by splicing new fiber segments, troubleshooting issues, and completing repairs to keep our service strong and reliable.
We're looking for top-tier talent and will equip you with the tools, training, and flexibility you need to thrive and make a lasting impact.
Essential Functions:
  • Maintenance & Repair of related fiber optic equipment and fiber optic lines in various environments within Greenlight Networks fiber footprint.
  • Perform splicing on network expansion projects, as well as assist with troubleshooting and repair
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting disruptions in network performance, (low lights), locating and repairing faulty components to restore networks functionality.
  • Audit and testing of various customer facing enclosures.
  • Work in a team environment to maintain and improve Greenlights network fiber footprint.
  • Work cross functionally with other Greenlight teams to resolve escalated network issues quickly with as minimal downtime possible
  • Work to resolve technical issues in an outdoor environment in any type of weather
  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of splice documents and maps preferred
  • Basic understanding of fusion machine and testing equipment.
  • Can set up and or have basic understanding on how to safely run ADSS Fiber 12F-48F
  • Conceptual knowledge of how to or can complete a simple pole transfer.
  • Self-efficient in daily tasks, ability to be on time and work independently
  • Ability to safely work from heights, up to 50' in bucket truck or ladder.
  • Basic Trouble shooting abilities.
  • Basic Knowledge of mapping software
  • Ability to travel out of town to assist in other markets on a consistent basis
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment to resolve problems and work towards achieving team goals.
  • Able to participate in on-call rotation schedule for emergency repairs.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules as needed.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
  • Ability to distinguish colors
  • Interest and ability in building a career in the fiber industry, willingness to learn and strive towards excellence in the craft.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum high school degree or equivalent, post high school coursework preferred in related field.
  • Previous exposure to electrical, fiber and or cable related skilled craft work highly desirable
  • This role requires the operation of a company vehicle.? A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and the ability to maintain insurability under the company's auto policy are essential.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to stand/or sit for long periods of time

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic understanding of FTTH networks; GPON/XGS-PON, customer premise network
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with co-workers, customers, and vendors through email, by phone and in person.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and organize effectively
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and electronics
  • Ability to climb poles safely using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt as needed and safely carry, climb, and operate extension ladders (approx. 32 ft high and 90 pounds)
  • Work aloft and in close spaces up to 32ft on ladder, or hand climb utility poles using gaffs; work in basements, crawlspaces, utility closets, etc.
  • Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of fibers and work with small components and fiber to make cable connections
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel or crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Skilled in use of hand tools, test tools, web-based tools, and necessary computer equipment
  • Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including gaffs, ladders, and fully loaded tool belts
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including on-call rotation, weekends, holidays, evenings, and overtime as required.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • This role requires the operation of a company vehicle.? A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and the ability to maintain insurability under the company's auto policy are essential.
  • Experience with Telecommunications Installation and fiber network installation and maintenance
  • Experience splicing fiber, preferred
  • Experience Climbing poles and ladders, preferred
  • Experience with OTDR, Power Meter, VFL, and Fusion Machine, preferred

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The hourly rate for this position is $25.00 - $39.00. The actual salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
