What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Greek Historian, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Greek Historian, you need a deep understanding of ancient Greek history, strong research skills, and typically an advanced degree in history or classics. Familiarity with primary source analysis, historical databases, and sometimes proficiency in ancient Greek language are essential technical qualifications. Excellent critical thinking, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills help historians interpret and convey complex historical narratives. These skills are vital for producing accurate scholarship, preserving historical knowledge, and educating others about Greek history.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in Greek History roles within academic or research settings?

Professionals in Greek History often encounter challenges such as limited access to primary sources or archaeological materials, especially for lesser-studied periods or regions. Additionally, interdisciplinary collaboration is frequently required, as historical research can overlap with fields like archaeology, art history, and philology. Balancing independent research with teaching responsibilities and securing research funding are also common aspects of the role. Navigating these challenges requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a willingness to engage with a broad academic community.

What do Greek historians do?

Greek historians study the history, culture, and society of ancient Greece, analyzing texts, artifacts, and archaeological evidence to understand the civilization's development and impact. They may specialize in specific periods such as the Classical or Hellenistic eras and often interpret historical events, politics, philosophy, and daily life. Their work can involve teaching, writing scholarly articles and books, and participating in research projects or excavations.

Job description

About Us:
AIRE Ancient Baths are temples dedicated to the creation of the ultimate relaxation experience, where time does not exist. Inspired by the tradition of baths from ancient Roman, Greek and Ottoman civilizations, the AIRE Experience always takes place in restored historical buildings in the center of globally acclaimed cities.
At AIRE we are proud to have an international presence with 10 established centers: Toronto, Upper East Side, Tribeca , Chicago, London, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Sevilla, Almeria, and Vallromanes. We are already looking into the future and moving onwards, with our soon-to-be-opened, Los Angeles Facility in 2026.
We are even prouder of the caring, inclusive, and familiar work environment we have created for all our employees.
Tribeca Location:
In the midst of the bustle and fast-paced rhythm of downtown, right at the heart of Tribeca, there is an oasis of tranquility exclusively designed to balance mind and body. Located at a restored historical building, originally an 1883 textile factory, the AIRE experience consists of an unforgettable journey through sensations across the various baths with water at different temperatures that will transport you to the ancient times of the Roman, Greek and Ottoman traditions.
The Role:
As a Spa Attendant/Link you will play an integral role in providing clients with the AIRE Experience. You will check in and guide clients through their bathhouse and massage experience. You will give bathhouse tours, schedule massages, and tend to client needs throughout the day. You will coordinate with other Spa Attendants/Links and Massage Therapists to ensure all clients are taken care of.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet clients and provide them with a tour of the facility.
  • Coordinate treatments based on the schedule of massage therapists, honoring special requests when possible.
  • Guide the clients through their experience, leading them from the baths to their massage treatments, etc.
  • Tend to the needs of the clients during their stay, keeping tabs on them and following up as necessary.

Who You Are:
  • Prior experience as a host in a spa or hospitality industry, preferred.
  • Strong customer service mentality: friendly, outgoing, and personable demeanor.
  • Energetic team player with a passion for assisting high-end clientele.
  • Skilled at anticipating the flow of business, thinking ahead, and solving problems before they occur.
  • Strong attention to detail: ensure clients have what they need, and remember the fine points of their reservations.
  • Ability to multitask, remain calm under pressure, and work quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintain flexibility with scheduling according to business needs.
  • Prior experience with reservation systems, preferred.

Why You Should Join Us:
  • Pay: $20/hour; $21/hour (CPR certified - AIRE pays for training).
  • United Healthcare Insurance: medical (major), dental, and vision.
  • PTO: (5 days).
  • Sick days (7).
  • Growth opportunities.
  • 401K savings plan.
  • Commuter Benefits Program.
  • Complimentary Bath Experience (once a month).
  • Employee Bath Experience discounts (including friends/family).
  • Employee Perks Program (TicketsAtWork).
  • Employee Referral Bonus Program.
  • Employee discounts for Blink Fitness Gyms.
  • Team spirit is our greatest asset! We are proud to have a welcoming and inclusive work environment where everyone's opinions and backgrounds are heard and respected.
