Job description

Summary To provide part-time grounds maintenance and event services for the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds and facilities. To assist the Fairgrounds Facilities Supervisor in addressing facility maintenance and custodial needs in preparation of, and during the County Fair and Interim Events. To assure the effective and efficient use of Department personnel, funds, materials and time.

Essential Duties PRINCIPAL DUTIES: To assist in maintaining Department facilities, equipment, and grounds in optimum condition within budgetary constraints. To provide lawn and grounds maintenance for the Fairgrounds and other facilities, as directed. To assist the Facilities Supervisor in the coordination of activities and events at the County Fairgrounds.

Work with diversified user groups (4-H, FFA, Open Class, Grange, Horse, Cattle, Poultry, Small Animal, Concessionaires, Commercial, and others) to operate a quality Fair and facilitate full utilization of the Fairgrounds and Parks facility. To assist in grounds keeping services, facility improvements, maintenance tasks, and other services as necessary. Operate power tools and equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, weed-eaters, dump trucks, loaders, tractors, etc.

Assist fire, police, and ambulance crews in any manner possible. Maintain equipment and facilities owned and/or operated by the Department in good operating condition. To perform minor maintenance and custodial duties during the County Fair and annual interim events.

This includes pre-event preparation and set up; event operational tasks, as well as post-event breakdown and clean-up. Assist with the coordination and staffing of events which take place on evenings and weekends as needed. Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Fair and Events Supervisor, and/or Facilities Supervisor.

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have valid Washington State Driver's License. Experience with grounds maintenance, custodial and/or lawn care is desired.

Experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of farm machinery and lawn equipment will also be a consideration. SALARY RANGE: $17.00 per hour with a $0.50 increase per hour per year of prior experience at the Fairgrounds. WORK HOURS: May require regular workdays on Saturday and/or Sunday

Hours and days scheduled will vary greatly according to the seasonal event calendar, in order to flexible to accommodate clients and events. The person filling this position will be limited to working less than 690 hours in a twelve (12) month period. Supplemental Information WORKING CONDITIONS: This position may require the following: Climbing; Mobility; Feeling; Balancing; Pushing; Talking; Stooping; Pulling; Hearing; Crouching; Lifting; Seeing; Reaching; Finger Dexterity; Repetitive Motion; Standing; Grasping; Kneeling.

Some duties are performed in outdoors in variable weather conditions. Potential hazards present from traffic and road equipment. May lift equipment up to 50 pounds; work alone, etc.
