Overview
Minco is a global provider of thermal solutions, temperature sensing and control solutions, and flex circuit solutions for medical, aerospace, defense, oil and gas, power generation and other high-reliability applications. Our experienced team couples advanced product technologies, expert design and engineering services, and a deep understanding of our customers' applications to provide comprehensive solutions that meet exacting requirements for quality, reliability and performance.
Minco is seeking a Design Engineer II for our Thermal Solutions engineering group. Design Engineers possess an understanding of general or proposed designs, lead design support teams, and participate in design development and selection. We are looking for a motivated, high energy, top performer with excellent communication skills to work in an agile team environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to coordinate and execute new product development projects of varying complexity and scope.
  • Apply fundamental design engineering principles and practices while working with proposed or updated product concepts and interpretation of customer requirements.
  • Respond to questions and concerns from customers, sales, marketing, and suppliers; investigate product concepts, capability, standards, and other needs; communicate with the appropriate groups.
  • Execute new product introduction processes to ensure smooth transition of products through all design phases starting with initial assessment and commencing with production launch.
  • Lead teams regarding draft concepts, technical documentation, product application, testing standards, and related areas; develop and review a variety of reports, documents, and tests, and adjust concepts or activities as needed.
  • Provide technical support to production, quality, and other internal departments in a timely manner to solve internal challenges.
  • Participate in design, process, and continuous improvement projects; ensure objectives and timelines are met and collaborate with engineering or production personnel as required to complete projects.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and recommend new processes, materials, and tooling to continually accelerate Minco's leadership in design and manufacturing solutions, quality, productivity, and innovation.
  • Support the resolution of external inquiries and challenges by responding to questions and concerns from quality, purchasing, and customer service departments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as identified.

Qualifications
Preferred Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize fundamental design engineering principles and practices.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with prospects, customers, suppliers, third-party agencies, fellow employees, and Management.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with quality, production, sales, purchasing, and engineering groups across the company.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with a sense of urgency under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturability.
  • Ability to follow new product introduction processes to deliver quality products to customers in a timely manner.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Visio, Project, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong working knowledge of designing in Solidworks (Advanced Part Modeling, Assemblies, Drawings, etc.)
  • Experience writing and executing acceptance and qualification test procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOE and Capability Study.
  • Strong graphics/visual aide creation skills.
  • Understanding and practical application of FMEA.
  • Understanding of metal fabrication (Machining, Casting, Sheet Metal, Welding, etc.).
  • Experience with lean principles.
  • Experience writing computer programs at an intermediate level. Preferred languages: VBA or Visual Basic, Python, LabVIEW, JavaScript.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, ideally in a similar role at a business-to-business manufacturing company with diverse product and service solutions, within AS9100 or ISO9001 systems.
Work Environment
  • General office, engineering and production floor, and manufacturing environments.
  • Domestic and/or International Travel might be twenty percent or more, as needed.
  • Fast-paced, dynamic workload and responsibilities.

Compensation: Range of $85,000 to $105,000 annual gross hourly
Location: Fridley, Minnesota
