About the Role
Delkor Systems is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Packaging Engineer to support our Sales, Marketing, Applications, Engineering, and Materials teams. This role is central to enabling new business opportunities by designing innovative packaging concepts, creating physical samples, and providing technical support across departments.
You will serve as the primary internal contact for packaging design needs, ensuring customer requests are met with accuracy, creativity, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Packaging Design & Sample Creation
  • Design, build, and assemble packaging samples-trays, cartons, cases, and more-using SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, Google SketchUp, and related tools.
  • Maintain the packaging lab and all associated equipment, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and proper operation.
  • Operate lab equipment including the Kongsberg cutting table, compression tester, and large-format graphic printer.

Sales & Customer Support
  • Support Sales Engineers and Sales Managers with quotes, samples, drawings, follow-ups, FATs, and general project needs.
  • Respond to requests for samples, brochures, drawings, and other materials used in customer conversations.
  • Create TOPS drawings to help sales teams illustrate packaging concepts to customers.
  • Assist with ROI analyses when needed.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to design packaging with integrated graphics.
  • Participate in trade shows and conferences as required.

General Duties
  • Produce high-quality packaging samples for sales presentations, marketing displays, and customer demonstrations.
  • Support the creation of packaging samples for Delkor's displays and trade show exhibits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Associate degree in engineering, packaging, business, marketing, communications, or a related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of related experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with packaging equipment or a related industry is a plus.

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, Google SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce technical drawings.

Soft Skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform computer-based work.
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and support hands-on lab activities.

Work Environment
  • 60% office-based work at a computer or desk.
  • 10% travel to customer or vendor locations.
  • 30% work on the assembly floor with exposure to production tools, noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.

Tools & Equipment
  • Standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier, printer, calculator).
  • Light industrial equipment including shrink wrapper, hot melt glue system, and cardboard cutting tools.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000 annually
Final salary is based on education, experience, skills, and job-related factors.
