Position Summary
The Graphic Design Associate role offers a unique opportunity to develop practical skills in graphic design within a dynamic sports marketing environment. You will gain hands-on experience working on real-world projects that directly impact fan engagement and brand visibility. By collaborating with multiple teams, you will enhance your teamwork and communication skills while learning to manage design projects from concept to final delivery. Additionally, you will become proficient in adhering to brand guidelines and using content management systems, preparing you for a professional career in marketing, design, or related fields. This role will also provide valuable insight into the intersection of sports, marketing, and media, making it an excellent foundation for your future career.
This position is directly responsible for the creation of URI Athletics and Ryan Center Marketing collateral and social media designs in relation to ticket sales, team promotions, special events, and more. May assist on larger branding projects such as facility branding or sport-specific venue enhancements. Works collaboratively with the URI Athletics Marketing department staff head and/or contributing staff to realize a final product.
This role pays an hourly rate of $16.00.

About the Venue
A state-of-the-art, multi-purpose facility, the Thomas M. Ryan Center, located on the University of Rhode Island campus in scenic South County, opened its doors in June 2002. Home to URI Men's and Women's Basketball programs, the Ryan Center also features the URI football teams' locker room, along with athletic department offices, training rooms, players' lounges, and a souvenir store. The venue seats 8,000 for basketball and over 6,300 for concerts, family shows, lectures, and other community events. The Ryan Center was designed and built to meet all ADA specifications to accommodate our guests with disabilities. Located in Kingston, the Center draws on an audience of over 1.4 million people within a 40-mile radius.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams on a wide range of materials that may include web pages, social media graphics, sales collateral, signage, internal communications, and marketing materials.
  • Enhance URI Athletics' image through creation of high-level graphic design images and following the URI Athletics Brand Guide.
  • Keep up with current trends in graphic design to keep the URI Athletics brand at a peak level of brand recognition.
  • Manage the design and uploading process for all project materials, based on the Athletics Marketing department's content management system.
  • Keeps all information confidential.

Qualifications
  • High-level creativity and design skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to continue building a skill set.
  • Working knowledge of other Adobe Creative Cloud applications (i.e., InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, etc.).
  • Proficiency with photo editing software.
