Job description

Job Summary

The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, drafting, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for various hospital and community health initiatives. This role requires exceptional writing, organizational and analytical skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to identify funding opportunities aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.

Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions

  • Research and identify potential public and private grant funding sources relevant to healthcare programs, services, and capital projects.
  • Develop, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications that align with funder priorities and organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with program managers, clinicians, finance, and leadership to gather data, project information, and supporting documentation for proposals.
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar of grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission of all proposals, renewals, and required reports to funders.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting on the status of grant applications and awarded funds; maintain accurate grant records and files.
  • Assist in developing budgets and financial justifications for grant proposals in collaboration with finance staff.
  • Assist with monitoring compliance with grant requirements, program evaluation and reporting as needed.
  • Stay informed about trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in healthcare and grant funding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required
    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Preferred
    • Master’s degree in English, Communications, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or a related field

Experience:

  • Required
    • Two or more years of experience in Grant Writing, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit setting
