Job description

NP/PA - Inpatient Cardiology - Grand Rapids, MI
Corewell Health's Cardiovascular Health department is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our 24/7 inpatient cardiology team. This role offers a dynamic, high-acuity environment with significant autonomy and collaborative support. As a full-time APP on this team you'll manage complex cardiac patients, respond to acute events, and work closely with physicians, fellows, and nursing staff to deliver exceptional care.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience and a background in cardiology, critical care, acute care surgery, or trauma is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient cardiology care including daily rounds and acute event management.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and maintain frequent communication with attending physicians.
  • Perform routine procedures with training available to develop proficiency.
  • Respond to emergent cardiac situations with confidence and clinical judgment.
  • Maintain flexibility to cross-cover interventional cardiology and advanced heart failure services.

Team & Structure:
  • Collaborative team of 20 APPs, both PA-C and NP providers.
  • Combination of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts.
  • Scheduling accommodates personal shift-length preferences and ensures recovery time after weekend shifts.

Qualifications:
Physician Assistant:
  • Required Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
  • LIC-Physician Assistant - State of Michigan
  • CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • CRT- Life Support BLS & ACLS

Nurse Practitioner:
  • Required Master's Degree Nurse Practitioners who obtained their education and certification after 2000 must show evidence of completion of a master's, post-master's or doctorate from a Nurse Practitioner program that is accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
  • 3 years of relevant experience current, relevant clinical experience
  • Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role as a Nurse Practitioner
  • LIC-Nurse Practitioner (NP) - State of Michigan
  • CRT- Life Support BLS & ACLS
