Located in the Valley of the Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. GCU is an institutionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University.

Grand Canyon University's Development team is seeking a highly driven, execution-oriented professional to serve as a Graduate Assistant Administrative Assistant.

This role is not a traditional administrative position. It is designed for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, startup-style environment where excellence, ownership, and initiative are expected. The right candidate will operate as a force multiplier for leadership - ensuring priorities move forward, events execute with precision, and strategic initiatives stay on track.

We are building something significant. This individual must want to work hard, solve problems quickly, and be part of a mission-driven team advancing GCU's impact.

What you will do:

Admin Support

  • Manage complex calendars, scheduling, and executive priorities

  • Prepare briefing documents, donor profiles, and meeting materials

  • Coordinate travel logistics and event schedules

  • Track follow-ups, action items, and deliverables

Development Operations

  • Support planning and execution of donor events (VIP experiences, galas, athletic hospitality, private dinners)

  • Coordinate logistics with campus partners (athletics, facilities, marketing, catering, etc.)

  • Assist with stewardship execution and donor engagement tracking

  • Maintain organized documentation within project management systems

  • Support budget tracking and operational workflows

Event Execution

  • Assist with on-site event production and white-glove donor hospitality

  • Oversee check-in processes, vendor coordination, and day-of logistics

  • Anticipate needs before they arise

  • Represent Development with professionalism and warmth

What you will need:

  • Be admitted to a graduate degree seeking program at GCU. (Certificate only programs do not satisfy this requirement.)

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0. (If a student is newly admitted to the University, theadmissionGPA is considered for this requirement.) A student must alsomaintaina minimum GPA of 3.0 during their employment.

  • Beenrolled inas a "regular" (not provisional) degree-seeking student for at least 6 graduate level units leading to the degree. (Undergraduate or audited courses do not satisfy this requirement.) Hiring departments may requirea higherenrollment.

  • Assistantships may be revoked at any time duties are not fulfilled satisfactorily.

  • Because of the role as student and employee, graduate assistants assume responsibility for upholding the University's Student Code of Conduct.

  • Graduate Assistants are eligible for waiver of tuition for the period employed. Waiver of tuition may betaxableincome.

  • Graduate Assistants must follow the HR employment workflow processes and pre-employment background checks.

  • Graduate Assistants have restricted work hours (maximum of 29 hours per week).

  • After all degree requirements for the planned program of study are met, a student is no longer eligible to receive a graduate assistantship.

  • "Incomplete" grades must be removed during the period following the teaching period in which the "I" was recordedin order tocontinue the assistantship.

  • Graduate Assistants are part-time employees and not eligible for GCU's employment benefits, except those stipulated by law.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical PositionStatementand Mission of Grand Canyon University.
