About the Role: The Graduate Assistant for Athletics plays a pivotal role in supporting the athletic department's operations and enhancing the student-athlete experience. This position involves assisting with administrative tasks, coordinating and supporting events, and providing support to coaching staff and athletic programs. The role is designed to offer graduate students practical experience in sports management, athletic administration, and related fields while contributing to the success of the athletics department. The Graduate Assistant will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory policies, promote student-athlete welfare, and help organize athletic competitions and community engagement activities. Ultimately, this position aims to develop the candidate's professional skills and knowledge in athletics administration, preparing them for future leadership roles in the sports industry. Responsibilities Include:
  • Creating and running pitching development program
  • Managing Wesleyan Softball pitching staff
  • Practice and competition support
  • Workout monitoring
  • On site student athlete support
  • Recruitment support
  • Game day operations support
  • Field maintenance assistance
  • Uniform and equipment maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned by head coach

Graduate Assistant Requirements:
  • Must be admitted to the graduate program by the program director.
  • Must apply for the GA position using the required application. The sponsoring department will be responsible for interviewing and hiring the GA.
  • Must maintain a full-time load each semester and maintain an average GPA of B or higher.
  • Work on campus no more than 20 hours per week, as assigned by the supervisor, through the duration of the contract.
