Job description

The Village was one of the first agencies in the country to provide homes for neglected children.  Today, we continue to achieve our mission “to build a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children” by providing a full range of behavioral health, early childhood and youth development, substance use treatment and support services for children, adults and families in the Greater Hartford, Connecticut region.  In order to accomplish this, we hire the most qualified, experienced staff and support creativity and innovation so that we can come up with solutions that work.  We are about lasting, sustainable change for individuals and families today and communities tomorrow.

With a strong commitment to workforce development, The Village sponsors internships for students who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the social work, counseling, nursing, and administrative fields. Our interns come from a variety of colleges and universities in and around New England.

Acceptance is based upon the availability of supervision in the student's area of interest, prior experience and learning needs. Referrals are accepted from January 1 to June 1 for internships that start in September and end in May. There may be a limited number of summer block placements, given both programmatic and supervisory availability.

The internship program also provides opportunities for staff who are interested in pursuing an advanced degree.
