Job description

PART TIME ROLE - 20 HOURS PER WEEK
PAY = $22/HOUR
About the role
Individuals in this role support with the production of high quality geographic and demographic materials that would be used for commercial real estate marketing and market analysis purposes.
This role is learning Geographic Information Systems (GIS) fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures and assists other GIS staff within the commercial real estate industry. Learning to work with large data sets for analysis of geospatial information, with manager direction and review
What you'll do
  • Learn to support the production of map-based results demonstrating ESRI suite, with a heavy focus on paper/static or online map results. Use third party mapping platforms (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) to produce best-in-class aesthetic results.
  • Assist the team with mapping workload overflow as needed.
  • Acquire and maintain accurate market data (e.g., existing/proposed locations of office buildings, malls, shopping centers, retailers). Helps to perform quality assurance and routine diagnostics on data and databases.
  • Extract, format, and transform demographic- and location-related data from various databases for use with mapping services. May use protocols to identify problems with datasets and routine extraction processes, resolve issues, and systematize processes for future work.
  • Log and prioritize work assignments using the company's proprietary web-based map ordering and workflow management system.
  • Help to maintain a map library of commonly used maps and results for dedicated regions.
  • Responsible for keeping current with continuing internal training and informative assignments geared towards sophisticated GIS analysis.

What you'll need
  • Working towards a Bachelor or master's degree in Geography or a related field.
  • Be an undergraduate or graduate study rising senior majoring in an area of Geography with proven academic success; a grade point avg of 3.0 or higher
  • At least 1 year of experience working with GIS Technology using ESRI is required.
  • Meaningful experience integrating enterprise databases with GIS technology also preferred. Spatial Data related database design, scripting/GIS programming and leadership skills are preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to co-workers. Ability to effectively present information.
  • Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages. Conducts basic financial analysis.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires basic to intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to take on multiple assignments, while maintaining efficiencies and quality.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Suite (Desktop & Online), word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications required.
  • Knowledge of GIS terms and definitions required.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate preferred and the ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply operations such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations is preferred.
