Job Summary
The Assistant Softball Coach assists the Head Softball Coach with all facets of the program; to include organization, development, and leadership of a highly competitive Division II softball program in support of the mission and core values of Tuskegee University.
Essential Job Duties
  • Assist the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport
  • Organize and direct individuals and small group practices and exercises as directed
  • Maintain current knowledge and adhere to all college, NCAA and conference rules and regulations
  • Assist with recruitment of qualified student-athletes
  • Demonstrate effective teaching/coaching methods and possess excellent leadership skills
  • Assist with games and practice preparations and planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Three or more years of coaching experience at a high school or collegiate level
  • Must have knowledge o of NCAA rules and regulations

Physical Demands
  • May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires standing for at least 4 hours each day and working in all weather conditions
  • Exposure to high noise levels
  • Additional physicals demand includes, but not limited to physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players

Skills and Attributes
Knowledge of:
  • NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to the recruitment and retention of student-athletes
  • Individual and team skills with the ability to teach these skills

Skills:
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills

Ability to:
  • Travel extensively
