ASSISTANT ATHLETIC COACH

DEPARTMENT: Athletics

UNIVERSITY MISSION: To educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.

LOCATION: Corban University’s 220+ acre campus is situated on a hillside forest setting overlooking the Willamette Valley, just minutes from the heart of Salem, Oregon’s capital city. The rugged coast awaits only an hour’s drive to the west. To the east is the mountainous Cascade Range. Portland, the state’s largest city, is less than an hour away and is home to cultural museums, parks, shopping, and restaurants.

POSITION SUMMARY: This candidate pool accepts applications for potential openings for Assistant Coaches that may arise throughout the year and is not a guarantee of a position. Assistant Coaches may be hired in one of the following areas, including:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the assigned program as defined by the head coach, including spiritual, academic, and athletic development.

• Assist leading the program in practice and games under the direction of the Head Coach.

• Assist with practice and player development.

• Fundraising.

• Academic monitoring.

• Game management.

• Working camps and field maintenance.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sports Management, or related field.

• Collegiate or professional playing experience is required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience coaching at the collegiate level.

• Master’s degrees will be given special consideration.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Possess strong organizational skills, work ethic, and willingness to work flexible hours.

• Ability to work effectively with collegiate student athletes and be committed to developing as a coach.

• Strong motivational skills.

• Strong time management skills.

• Attention to detail.
