Job description

Hillcrest High School is looking for a qualified assistant coach for our baseball program.
We are looking for a student of the game who understands the fundamentals of baseball. Must have a good understanding of the flow of the game and an ability to see the game in advance. We want a person who can help build the culture of the program. This candidate should have baseball experience and can add to the existing coaching staff.
This job is best suited for someone with significant experience in coaching/playing baseball and in developing young athletes while building a strong, positive, and competitive team culture. Coaches mentor, train, and educate athletes in baseball skills and techniques while serving as positive role models for student athletes. Coaches also work to train and educate athletes in safety and injury prevention.
We have a talented and committed group of boys, a great community, and a tradition of excellence in our programs.
The candidate will:
• Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship.
• Assist in conducting tryouts for a team or for an individual to participate in a competition; help select the players for a team who will represent the school.
• Assist in practices by instructing and working with athletes to help them perfect their abilities and provide them guidance in keeping fit for competition and teach them how to react under the pressure of competitive play.
• Comply with the rules and regulations and comply with all Utah High School Activities Association mandates and requests.
• Communicate to all students the policies of the team, school, and school district relating to school sponsored sports activities.
• Complete reports and forms as required.
• Foster a safe, welcoming and respectful environment.
• Fulfill supervision responsibilities for all practices, locker rooms, games and team trips.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Preferred Skills:
  • Previous baseball coaching experience and/or participation at the high school or college level is preferred.
  • Candidate must complete 3 required UHSAA courses and new hire paperwork within 2 weeks of hire and before you can begin coaching duties.
