Job description

We have a great opportunity! AMLI Residential is seeking a recent or upcoming graduate for our Analyst opening in our Chicago headquarters. In this role, you will be responsible for financial and economic analysis to support the Acquisition & Disposition and Asset Management departments. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Accounting, Development, and Asset Management teams. Additionally, you will participate in AMLI's 2 year Investment Analyst Program, which will provide exposure and cross-training across the company's vertically integrated real estate investment and management platform. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in real estate and gain valuable experience in a dynamic company.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist with the initial screening of investment proposals to determine fit with AMLI's investment objectives - including preparing rental market surveys, rent roll analyses, acquisition models, investment memos, and investment committee presentations.
  • Analyze and monitor the performance of the existing portfolio. Assist in completing monthly model updates, including economic forecasts of supply/demand and impact on projected rent growth.
  • Assist AMLI's Development department with new investment underwriting.
  • Complete hold/sell analyses based on financial and macroeconomic factors.
  • Assist with financial and market performance reporting to joint venture partners, including quarterly reports and the annual budget package.
  • Assist with the annual preparation of the Investment Dashboard.
  • Cross-Training opportunities: Business Intelligence, Property Management, Financial Reporting, Construction cost accounting and estimating, and Pricing Analysis.

TRAVEL: Minimal travel is required. Ability to shadow the Head of Acquisitions and Dispositions for an annual property tour and a regional Development Head for an annual development tour.
Education and/ Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration required
  • Experience in Real Estate/Asset Management and 0-2 years of experience in economics, finance, or related experience is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently analyze financial and other numerical data, assess trends, variances, and causes, and confidently report findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Excel required. Strong interest in leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools (e.g., for data analysis, financial modeling support, market research, and workflow automation). The ability to learn and adapt to new software applications quickly is also required.
