Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating and meeting customer needs in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. Rogers Group is currently seeking an Experienced Grading Foreman for the North Alabama Operations area reporting directly to the Area Construction Manager. This position starts at $30/hr. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead safety, quality, and revenue generation throughout our existing operations and additional operations through growth.
Job Details:
  • Provide planning, supervision and documentation for Mass Grading/Finish Grade Operations.
  • Responsibilities will also include training personnel in setting grade, equipment operation, and other tasks involved in excavation/grading operations related to commercial grading operations.
  • Wages starting at $30.00/hr. Starting wage can be higher based on verifiable experience

  • Provide planning, supervision and documentation for grading activities and utility installations.
  • Responsibilities will also include training personnel in setting grade, equipment operation, and other tasks involved in excavation/grading operations.
  • Responsible for overseeing, coaching and modeling safety procedures and policies at all times.
  • Provides leadership and is responsible for safety, scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising and assisting with cost control; ensuring the consistent and fair application of all SSC policies and procedures.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of field employees in site, road, and subdivision construction. This includes excavation, filling, compaction, and testing of materials. Also responsible for underground utility installation on sites.
  • Knowledge of mass grading sequencing and placement of excavated material. Ability to do field layout and coordinating with surveyors and engineers as required.
  • Inspects work site to determine sequencing and method of utility installation and survey for potential hazards or safety concerns.
  • Knowledge of sediment control devices, erosion regulations, and installation methods.
  • Identifies, verifies, and reports any scheduling conflicts, needs, or deficiencies with other crews and subcontractors to the appropriate persons when applicable.
  • Understands and communicates safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance in all areas of safety, while identifying the needs for crew safety training. Also responsible for daily safety meetings with topics applicable to the jobsite. Also completes a JSA for tasks dependent on the specific task and severity of potential damage or injury.
  • Assesses the competency and capability of employees on the project and evaluates the capabilities of the crew members. Recognizes and addresses issues/problems that may arise among crew members and provides effective resolutions and guidance.
  • Supervise all company equipment and vehicle use; ensure all maintenance procedures are being followed. This is to include daily pre-ops on all equipment. Ability to troubleshot equipment issues and work with mechanics and vendors to provide economical solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Must have 3-5 years supervisory experience in grading operations
  • Effective Communication and leadership Skills
  • 3 plus years' experience operating heavy construction equipment is required.
  • Read and understand grade stakes.
  • Interpret the drawings and specifications for the job.
  • Work in an environment with noise levels that may require hearing protection.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment
  • Must be Drug Free and able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and possess a Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must be willing to adhere to RGI and OSHA safety standards.
