Job description

  • Operating heavy equipment to clear land, level terrain and shape road surfaces
  • Moving large amounts of soil, rocks, and debris to prepare construction sites
  • Reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and grade stakes
  • Collaborating with construction crews and supervisors/foreman to meet project goals
  • Performing daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid drivers license
    Certification of vocational training in heavy equipment operation (preferred)
    2-4 years of experience operating bulldozer/excavator
    Knowledge of soil composition and grading techniques
    Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions
    Must be able to work in noisy and dusty conditions
    Travel to work site
  • Professional Attitude & conduct
    Multi-task, interpersonal communication, problem solving, and time management skills are needed.
    High degree of safety awareness and safety discipline
    Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
    Willing to travel and work away from home when and if required.
    Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
    Strictly adhere to safety requirements and the policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
    Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
    Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by Pittman Construction Safety and OSHA.
