Heavy Equipment Operator – Dozer / Excavator/ Articulated Truck (Landfill, Grading & Coal Ash Work)

CBP Environmental is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator with experience operating excavators, dozers, and articulated haul trucks in landfill, grading, and coal ash (CCR) environments. This role involves safe, efficient equipment operation in coal ash containment areas, landfill cells, and earthmoving projects, with strict adherence to site safety protocols and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).

Operators will work in outdoor conditions on uneven terrain, slopes, and active job sites, including coal ash exposure environments requiring heightened safety awareness, dust control, and PPE compliance. Responsibilities include daily pre-operational inspections, equipment maintenance, and identifying mechanical issues, while maintaining situational awareness around haul traffic and changing ground conditions.

Position Responsibilities


· Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with all company policies, site-specific procedures, and applicable regulations.

· Conduct thorough pre-operational inspections and complete daily safety and maintenance checks.

· Maintain equipment cleanliness to ensure proper function, visibility, and professional standards.

· Secure equipment at the end of each shift in accordance with company protocols.

· Identify, document, and promptly report any mechanical issues, deficiencies, or required repairs to management.

· Assist with routine preventative maintenance and basic service tasks as needed.

· Follow all Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), site safety plans, and CBP Environmental safety standards at all times.

· Maintain situational awareness on active job sites, including working around personnel, haul traffic, and changing ground conditions.

· Safely operate equipment and perform duties in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and high humidity.

· Perform job duties that require walking on slopes, uneven terrain, and active construction surfaces.

· Safely climb ladders and access/egress equipment multiple times throughout the workday.

Requirements

· Minimum of 1 year experience operating heavy earthmoving equipment (e.g., excavators, dozers, articulated haul trucks), or equivalent combination of training and experience.

· Demonstrated knowledge of safe, productive equipment operation in varying site conditions (e.g., mud, slopes, confined areas, landfill/CCR environments preferred).

· Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

· Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and physical/medical evaluation.

· Ability to pass a criminal background check.

· Strong commitment to safety with the ability to lead by example and enforce safe work practices.


Required Education: High School or equivalent.
