Grading Foreman

Position Overview


The Grading Foreman is responsible for leading field crews and overseeing grading operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards. This role coordinates closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers while maintaining a strong focus on safety and production.


Key Responsibilities

·         Supervise and lead grading crews on site

·         Coordinate equipment and material deliveries for grading operations

·         Inspect site conditions and verify grade stakes for accuracy

·         Operate or direct the operation of grading equipment including motor graders, dozers, compactors, and scrapers

·         Perform daily jobsite inspections and evaluate site-specific safety conditions

·         Conduct daily safety checklists and hold weekly safety tailgate meetings

·         Ensure strict compliance with all safety policies and procedures

·         Maintain production schedules and monitor progress toward project deadlines

·         Communicate effectively with subcontractors, inspectors, and project managers

·         Track and document daily production, equipment hours, and crew time

Qualifications

·         Experience in grading operations with leadership or foreman responsibilities

·         Strong knowledge of grading practices, plans, and specifications

·         Experience operating or directing heavy equipment

·         Commitment to safety and ability to enforce company safety policies

·         Strong communication and organizational skills

·         Ability to lead crews effectively in a fast-paced environment

·         Valid driver’s license (Class A preferred)

·         Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
