Job description

About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Site/Civil Working Foreman to lead field operations for sports field construction and site/civil projects. This is a hands-on position for an individual with strong experience in earthwork, excavation, drainage, concrete, grading, and site preparation who can effectively lead a field crew while actively working alongside the team.
The ideal candidate has experience in sports field construction or similar site/civil work and understands the importance of precision grading, proper drainage, elevations, and quality control.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and work alongside site/civil field crews on sports field and related construction projects
  • Plan and coordinate daily field activities
  • Perform and oversee excavation, earthwork, grading, and site preparation
  • Install and oversee storm drainage and underground utilities
  • Read and interpret civil, grading, drainage, and construction plans
  • Establish and maintain proper elevations and grades
  • Operate construction equipment and assist with equipment operation as needed
  • Work with laser grading and machine-control systems
  • Coordinate daily production with the Project Manager and project team
  • Monitor quality, productivity, materials, and jobsite conditions
  • Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and project schedules
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite
  • Communicate daily progress, issues, and material/equipment needs
  • Coordinate subcontractors and other trades when required
  • Assist with layout and field measurements
  • Identify potential problems in the field and communicate solutions before they become issues

Qualifications
  • Significant experience in site/civil construction
  • Strong knowledge of earthwork, excavation, drainage, concrete, grading, and site preparation
  • Experience constructing sports fields is strongly preferred
  • Ability to read and understand civil and grading plans
  • Strong understanding of elevations, slopes, grades, and drainage
  • Experience operating skid steers, excavators, compactors, and other construction equipment
  • Experience with laser grading systems and/or machine-control systems is preferred
  • Ability to lead a crew while remaining hands-on in the field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel to project locations as required
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding construction activities

Company Vehicle
A company vehicle will be provided for this position to support travel between the company, jobsites, suppliers, and project locations.
Travel, Lodging & Per Diem
Our projects may be located throughout Indiana & Michigan (potentially surrounding states). Company-provided lodging will be included for qualifying out-of-town projects. Employees will not be expected to cover their own lodging when traveling for company work.
