Job description

Johnson Excavation Inc. is a multi-generational licensed and insured General Engineering Contractor in the Santa Ynez Valley. We are seeking an experienced, motivated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, leads by example, and is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done safely and efficiently.

Qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating a wide variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, compactors, and other construction equipment.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret grading plans, blueprints, and project specifications.
  • Previous experience as a Foreman leading and managing a field crew would be ideal.
  • Willingness to perform manual labor when needed, this is a working leadership position.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and productivity.
  • Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • California Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is highly preferred and qualifies for a higher starting wage.

Compensation:
Starting wage will be based on experience and demonstrated ability. All applicants will complete a hands-on skills assessment to determine their starting wage.
