Job description

Job Summary -
We are seeking a dependable Grading Crew Laborer to assist with site preparation, grading, and earthwork on construction projects. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of grading equipment and helps create stable surfaces for paving, utilities, and building foundations. The ideal candidate is hardworking, safety-focused, and able to perform physical tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Assist with site preparation, including clearing debris, staking, and setting grade markers
  • Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment
  • Use hand tools and compactors to fine grade and prepare surfaces
  • Support equipment operators by signaling, spotting, and performing cleanup around machinery
  • Shovel, rake, and level materials such as gravel, soil, and aggregate
  • Set up safety barriers, signage, and traffic control devices as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools are properly stored
  • Follow instructions from the Foreman and communicate effectively with team members
  • Comply with all company safety policies and wear required PPE
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements -

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Prior experience in grading, earthwork, or construction is preferred but not required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform manual labor for extended periods
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and small equipment
  • Willingness to learn, follow directions, and work as part of a team
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
  • Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area
