Job description

Position Summary

Cedar Lane is seeking hardworking, dependable Construction Laborers to join our growing Utility & Excavation team. This position supports underground utility installation, site development, grading, and excavation projects. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and eager to learn and grow in the heavy civil construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist crews with the installation of underground utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
  • Perform trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, and compaction operations.
  • Safely work around excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy equipment.
  • Grade and prepare job sites using hand tools and small equipment.
  • Locate, expose, and protect existing underground utilities.
  • Set and remove trench boxes, shoring, and traffic control devices.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Assist foremen and equipment operators with daily project tasks.
  • Perform general labor duties as assigned to support project completion.

Qualifications

  • Previous excavation, underground utility, or heavy civil construction experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work in trenches, uneven terrain, and around heavy equipment.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding work.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred; CDL is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus but not required.
