Job description

Job Overview

Bennett Paving & Construction Inc is seeking good working, honest people to expand their team. You will earn high wages and grow in the civil construction field by joining our team by providing quality excavating, grading, and asphalt paving products to multiple entities within the State of Utah.

We currently are looking to expand our number of Equipment Operators for Excavating and Grading work. Applicants must be positive, willing to learn new things, and work hard, have a current driver’s license and means of transportation to get to and from work sites. (company truck will be provided)

Experience preferred but is not required. We will patiently train the right person. You must be willing to work long hours including overtime, be punctual and dependable, be capable of lifting 50 pounds and working in the sun most of the day. Daily tasks include operating equipment, checking grade for drainage, and assisting foreman with placing and compacting materials. Normal hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 5:00. Some Saturdays.

We pay every week. Rate of pay will be based on experience ranging between $26-34 per hour plus time and half for overtime. Other benefits we offer are paid vacation, holiday pay in the first year, job bonuses for each job completed correctly, and year-end bonuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and rollers
  • Perform excavation, grading, and site prep for paving projects
  • Assist with asphalt paving operations and material placement
  • Read grade stakes, site plans, and follow layout instructions
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
  • Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
  • Work alongside crew members to complete jobs efficiently and on schedule
  • Assist with general labor tasks when needed

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of equipment operating experience (excavation/paving preferred)
  • Ability to fine-grade and operate with precision
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
