The AE will be focused on driving growth by selling Polco's engagement platform, benchmark surveys, and data dashboards to government agencies across your territory. This is a hunter role focused on net-new accounts. You'll be joining a small and driven Revenue Team, and play a key role in shaping Polco's growth in the GovTech market.

Goals & Expectations:

  • Expand Polco's footprint by selling our civic engagement and data solutions to cities, counties, and states
  • Build trusting relationships with government leaders, staff, and stakeholders, positioning Polco as a partner in transparent and equitable decision-making
  • Meet and exceed sales targets through consistent pipeline generation, effective territory planning, and closing new business; targets will include sales quotas and top-of-funnel prospecting metrics
  • Champion Polco's mission by connecting our tools to outcomes that matter-community trust, inclusive participation, and evidence-based policymaking
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as Polco's business and customer needs continue to grow and develop

Day-to-Day Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to inbound leads within your territory and advance them through the sales process to close
  • Prospect and generate pipeline independently through research, cold outreach, networking, and referrals
  • Conduct discovery calls and product demos that translate technical capabilities into clear value for public sector leaders
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline and create accurate forecasts in Hubspot
  • Partner with our Marketing, Survey Research, and Product Teams to align client messaging and provide market insights
  • Facilitate seamless handoffs to Account Management and Customer Success Teams for renewals and expansions
  • Travel to events and conferences as needed

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated sales experience with complex, bureaucratic sales cycles; significant GovTech or public sector experience is highly preferred but not required
  • Expertise in solution and value-based sales methodologies
  • Strong prospecting skills with the ability to independently generate and sustain pipeline through research, outreach, and networking
  • Ability to build trust with public sector leaders by communicating complex data and engagement concepts in accessible, relatable language
  • Patience and persistence to navigate public sector sales cycles while maintaining urgency and focus
  • Driven to achieve ambitious sales goals while staying aligned with Polco's mission and goals
  • Adaptability to thrive in a startup environment with changing priorities and high autonomy
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $80,000-$115,000
  • On-Target Earnings (OTE): $160,000-$200,000 (base plus commission)
  • Base salary will be determined by relevant experience, qualifications, and demonstrated track record within the posted range; OTE includes base salary plus commission potential based on achievement of sales targets

  • Remote work environment
  • Flexible work hours, 14 company holidays, and generous paid time off
