The Opportunity
CACI Azure seeks a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for its Melbourne facility. This hybrid, full-time role manages supplier quality, technical performance, and process documentation. The position partners with Supply Chain Management for source selection, problem resolution, delay mitigation, and counterfeit parts prevention. Candidates must have strong manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance backgrounds. Onsite presence is required at least twice weekly and additional as needed to support manufacturing, MRB, and customers.
Responsibilities

  • Improve Supplier Quality for manufacturing operations at Melbourne, Fairfax, and supplier sites.
  • Develop supplier scorecards; report and monitor performance metrics.
  • Manage supplier audit schedules, conduct audits, and deliver reports.
  • Issue and resolve Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) for nonconformities.
  • Document Special Process Qualifications and update Approved Supplier Listing.
  • Handle nonconforming material documentation and SCAR administration.
  • Collaborate across departments to sustain and improve production processes.
  • Perform source inspections and provide technical support.
  • Lead supplier improvement efforts and evaluate suppliers for Approved Supplier List.
  • Maintain AS9100 Quality documentation and identify process improvement trends.
  • Support new supplier qualifications and provide recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years in Supplier Quality Improvement and Troubleshooting.
  • Experience with PCBs, PCBAs for Class 3 DoD Hardware, machined parts, and Special Processes.
  • Skilled in QMS, audits, SCARs, source inspection, MIPs, and requirements flow down.
  • SMT manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read PCBA schematics, Gerber files, and assembly instructions.
  • Experience with machined parts, GD&T, CMM, and inspection methods.
  • Knowledge of engineering/manufacturing operations in Defense/Aerospace/Space.
  • NADCAP familiarity.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and cross-organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior engineers.
  • Analytical skills, data analysis, and proficiency in RCCA.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office/PC expertise).
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
  • Ability to obtain/retain government security clearance.
  • Able to achieve certification in IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and/or J-STD-001 Space Addendum.
  • Up to 35% travel.

Desired
  • Quality experience in Class 3 PCBA manufacturing.
  • Machining, machine shop, and mechanical inspection expertise.
  • PCB manufacturing experience.
  • Thorough NADCAP understanding; Audit Special Processes.
  • Current certification in IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and/or J-STD-001 Space Addendum.
  • GD&T training and measurement metrology experience.
  • Experience with Special Processes and Controls.
  • Prior source inspection experience.
  • Prior experience establishing process documentation and a Supplier Quality System compliant with AS9100.

  • Proficiency with AS9100 and ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
