Title:  English Teacher - 50%                  
Qualifications:

• Must hold a valid Indiana English License

 Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Participate in curriculum review and design
• Effectively collaborate with department and/or grade-level teachers and other colleagues
• Effectively implement district and building initiatives
• Remain current on instructional practices in education
• Create active learning environment and collaboratively design settings that foster an enriching, nurturing, and safe climate where diversity and academic risk taking are valued.
• Hold and articulate high expectations for student learning, achievement, and behavior
• Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives and standards-based instruction

• Provide effective classroom management that includes teaching routines and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment
• Provides individual and small group instruction and adapts the curriculum to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports in a timely and consistent manner
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Reading, Special Reading)
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
• Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment/materials, and facilities
• Abide by state statues, school board policies and regulations
• Serve on committees as assigned
• 1:1 environment with Chromebooks
• Working knowledge of the Google suite including Google Classroom
• Attend required meetings

Title: NextNest Alternative Education - 50% Position

Description:  The NextNest Alt Ed Teacher supports students in NextNest, Fairfield Community Schools' online high school program.  This position works directly with students using Edmentum as the primary instructional delivery platform and provides academic support, progress monitoring, motivation, and  communication with families and school staff.

The NextNest Alt Ed Teacher helps students stay engaged, complete coursework, earn credits, and progress toward graduation.  This role is especially important for students who may be credit-deficient, chronically absent, experiencing health or life challenges, or at risk of withdrawal from school.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor student progress, attendance, engagement, and course completion through Edmentum and district systems
• Provide regular academic support to students working in online courses
• Assistant students with goal setting, pacing, organization, and completion of assigned coursework
• Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, counselors, administrators, and support staff
• Identify students who are falling behind and provide timely interventions
• Help students understand program expectations, graduation requirements, and individual progress goals
• Support students motivation, behavior, self-management, and accountability
• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, communication, interventions, and concerns
• Collaborate with counselors to support course placement, credit recovery and graduation planning
• Participate in student placement, review, and transition meetings as needed
• Support students with IEPs, 504 Plans, or other learning needs in collaboration with appropriate staff
• Help create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment for online students

Compensation:

• Competitive pay based upon experience

Contracted days:  180 student days plus an additional 4 staff days

Reports to: Building Principal and/or Building Supervisor
