Job description

We are looking for an HR Generalist to support a multi-state employee population and help create a well-organized, compliant, and employee-focused HR environment in Silver Spring, Maryland. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing day-to-day HR operations with process improvement and cross-functional collaboration. The person in this role will contribute across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding and benefits administration to records management and payroll support, while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with leaders and internal stakeholders to deliver day-to-day HR support for a multi-state workforce of approximately 30 employees.
• Coordinate onboarding and separation activities, ensuring required paperwork, system updates, and compliance steps are completed accurately and on time.
• Administer employee benefits programs and respond to team member questions related to coverage, enrollment, and changes.
• Maintain HR records within company systems with a strong focus on data integrity, organization, and confidentiality.
• Help ensure compliance with employment requirements across multiple states by applying current labor laws, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
• Support payroll-related updates such as employee changes and prorated adjustments to promote accurate reporting and processing.
• Review, process, and reconcile invoices connected to HR programs and services.
• Contribute to the improvement of HR workflows, documentation, and operational procedures to increase efficiency and consistency.
• Use Google Workspace and HRIS tools for communication, tracking, documentation, and routine administrative activities.• Previous experience in an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, or similar human resources position with broad operational responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of HR administration, employee relations, compliance practices, and employee lifecycle processes.
• Experience using HRIS platforms and payroll-related systems in a workplace setting.
• Familiarity with onboarding, benefits administration, and employee records management.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working with Google Workspace for communication, documentation, and recordkeeping.
