Overview/ Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled Jamf Engineer to join our Mobile Device Management (MDM) team. The Jamf Engineer will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and ongoing support of a Jamf Pro-based macOS management solution for approximately 150 users. This role will focus on ensuring a secure, efficient, and user-friendly experience for macOS devices while collaborating with the MDM team to align with organizational IT policies and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deployment and Configuration: Design, implement, and maintain Jamf Pro for managing macOS devices, including device enrollment, configuration profiles, policies, and application deployment.
  • Device Management: Administer and troubleshoot macOS devices to ensure compliance with security standards, software updates, and organizational requirements.
  • User Support: Provide Tier 2/3 support for macOS-related issues, working closely with end-users and the IT support team to resolve problems efficiently.
  • Security and Compliance: Enforce security policies, manage encryption, and ensure devices meet organizational and industry compliance standards (e.g., CIS benchmarks, HIPAA, or GDPR, as applicable).
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate workflows, reporting, and device management tasks within Jamf Pro.
  • Patch Management: Oversee the deployment of macOS updates, third-party application patches, and firmware updates to ensure devices remain current and secure.
  • Inventory and Reporting: Maintain accurate device inventory and generate reports on device status, compliance, and usage metrics using Jamf Pro tools.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional IT teams to integrate Jamf Pro with other systems (e.g., Entra ID, SSO, or endpoint security tools) and support broader MDM strategies.
  • Documentation and Training: Create and maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides. Provide training to IT staff and end-users as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on Jamf Pro features, macOS updates, and industry best practices to recommend and implement enhancements to the MDM environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience managing macOS devices in an enterprise environment using Jamf Pro.
  • Proven track record of deploying and supporting MDM solutions for small to medium-sized user groups (100-200 users).

Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in Jamf Pro administration (e.g., Smart Groups, Policies, PreStage Enrollments, Self Service).
  • Strong knowledge of macOS system administration, including file systems, permissions, and networking.
  • Familiarity with integrating Jamf Pro with identity providers (e.g., Okta, Azure AD) and security tools.
  • Understanding of Apple's Device Enrollment Program (DEP) and Volume Purchase Program (VPP).

Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Clearance:
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Department of Homeland Security EOD clearance (Requirements 1. US Citizenship, 2. Favorable Background Investigation)

Desired Qualifications
Preferred Certifications:
  • Jamf Certified Associate or Jamf Certified Admin.
  • Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with managing iOS/iPadOS devices in Jamf Pro.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security tools (e.g., CrowdStrike).
  • Microsoft Intune for mobile device management.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and customization.

Clearance Preference:
  • DHS EOD - 1st priority
  • Any DHS badge + DoD Top Secret or Secret - 2nd choice
  • DoD Secret or Top Secret + willingness to get EOD clearance - 3rd choice (it can take 45 days to obtain EOD clearance - work can only begin once the clearance is fully adjudicated)
