About The Role:

Roark is looking for an analytically sharp and brand-literate Ecommerce Merchandise Planner to own the digital product experience on our DTC channel. This role sits at the intersection of commerce and creativity balancing hard data with sharp merchandising instincts to ensure the right product is in front of the right customer at the right time.

The Ecom Merchandiser will drive assortment strategy, site merchandising, inventory health, and end-of-life planning across the Roark digital storefront. You will work cross-functionally with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, and Operations to optimize both the customer experience and business performance.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assortment & Site Merchandising

  • Curate seasonal assortments that align with brand direction, seasonal storytelling, and customer demand.
  • Drive site merchandising strategy, including data-informed recommendations on which styles should remain live based on performance, inventory position, and trend relevance.
  • Partner with marketing to ensure product presentation, sequencing, and content align with campaign priorities and brand narrative.

Inventory & Financial Planning

  • Manage inventory levels, replenishment, and OTB planning to support revenue and margin goals.
  • Develop end-of-life (EOL) strategies to maximize sell-through while minimizing aged inventory exposure.
  • Monitor SKU productivity and identify assortment opportunities, gaps, and redundancies on an ongoing basis.

Analytics & Performance Management

  • Analyze key KPIs including sell-through, conversion, AUR, inventory turn, and SKU productivity to make data-driven merchandising decisions.
  • Build and maintain regular reporting cadences to keep stakeholders informed of channel performance and inventory health.
  • Leverage trend analysis, customer insights, and competitive research to identify growth opportunities and improve assortment strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, and Operations to optimize the end-to-end customer experience and business performance.
  • Serve as the Ecom channel voice in seasonal line reviews and go-to-market planning.
  • Provide actionable feedback loops to product and planning teams based on digital channel performance data.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Required

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Ecom merchandising, digital buying, or site merchandising within the apparel or consumer goods industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with Ecom analytics platforms (Shopify, Google Analytics, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage OTB, inventory planning, and sell-through analysis.
  • Proven track record of balancing brand and business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with outdoor, surf, or lifestyle apparel brands.
  • Familiarity with Elastic, NuOrder, or comparable digital catalog/order management platforms.
  • Exposure to DTC growth-stage businesses with a blend of wholesale and direct channels.
  • Understanding of trend forecasting and consumer behavior research methodologies.


Location: This is an in-office hybrid position, mandatory 4 days per week in office in Irvine, CA with the option to work from home 1 day per week. Subject to change without notice as per company guidelines.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 plus opportunity for annual bonus; salary is based on the experience that you bring to the position.
