Reports To: Merchandising Manager / Director of Merchandising / VP of Ecom
Position Summary
This role is specific to PerformanceBike.com, a national-scale, bike-specialty retailer. Our business exists to serve our customers and the Digital Merchandiser is a key player in maximizing user experience. The Digital Merchandiser is responsible for creating exceptional online shopping experiences by ensuring products are easy to discover, understand, and purchase. This role blends digital merchandising, product content, SEO, catalog management, and cross-functional coordination to improve product presentation, drive conversion, and support the business growth and goals of PerformanceBike.com. We're looking for agile and adaptable problem solvers that can work creatively and independently. The Digital Merchandiser should demonstrate resourcefulness by identifying practical solutions using available tools and technology. You must be comfortable researching new approaches, leveraging existing resources, and solving problems independently when ideal solutions are not immediately available.
Working closely with Merchants, Purchasing, Marketing and Photography, the Digital Merchandiser helps bring products to market quickly while continuously optimizing product content, search performance, and merchandising experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Merchandising
Create and maintain product categories, collections, bundles, and merchandising rules.
Optimize product presentation to improve customer experience, product discovery, and conversion.
Support promotional campaigns, seasonal merchandising initiatives, and new product launches.
Maintain product attributes, compatibility information, buying guides, fit guides, and other merchandising content.
Identify opportunities to improve navigation, filtering, cross-selling, and product recommendations.
Product Content & Catalog Management
Create, edit, and maintain accurate product information, specifications, descriptions, images, and supporting content.
Ensure product information meets established quality, consistency, and brand standards.
Research missing product information using manufacturer resources, vendor documentation, and product evaluation.
Review and update existing product content as products evolve.
Support quality assurance for new product launches and ongoing catalog maintenance.
Search & SEO
Apply SEO best practices to product, category, and educational content.
Perform keyword research to improve organic visibility and customer search experience.
Monitor onsite search performance and recommend improvements to search terms, categories, filters, and attributes.
Utilize merchandising and search tools such as Bloomreach Discovery to improve product discoverability.
Analyze search trends and customer behavior to identify merchandising opportunities.
Merchandising Operations
Coordinate product launches with Purchasing, Photography, and Marketing.
Support pricing updates, promotional setup, and special merchandising projects.
Maintain merchandising standards, documentation, and workflows.
Research assortment gaps, competitive opportunities, and just-in-time inventory opportunities.
Recommend process improvements that increase merchandising efficiency and product quality.
Continuous Improvement
Monitor merchandising and SEO performance using available reporting tools.
Analyze customer behavior and merchandising performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
Participate in projects that enhance the ecommerce experience.
Perform A/B test.
Stay current on ecommerce trends, merchandising best practices, AI tools, and search technologies.
Contribute ideas that improve efficiency, customer experience, and business performance.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in ecommerce, merchandising, SEO, product content, or a related field.
Strong understanding of ecommerce merchandising principles and customer shopping behavior.
Excellent written communication and editing skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with ecommerce platforms, content management systems, or product information management systems preferred.
Experience using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Merchant Center, Microsoft Clarity, Bloomreach, SEMrush, or similar ecommerce tools is preferred.
