Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering discipline , or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in developing and qualifying Li-ion cells with external partners on advanced materials, components, processes and cell designs.
  • Experience using Statistical Process Control tools (such as Minitab or JMP) and data tools (Python, SQL, Matlab, etc).

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering discipline , or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
  • Experience with battery test conditions, requirements and equipment (Impedance meters, Maccor or Arbin battery tester, etc).
  • Experience in the lab or pilot line environment on battery cell building and testing.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and prototype new cell chemistries and cells in lab/pilot environments to maximize energy density, cycle life, and safety.
  • Drive Design of Experiments (DOEs) to optimize cell design, evaluate novel materials (anodes, cathodes, electrolytes, separators), and refine process parameters.
  • Partner with advanced material suppliers and external Research & Development (R&D) partners to co-develop, integrate, and source components into test vehicles.
  • Define and execute qualification matrices to evaluate advanced components, processes, and cell designs, and conduct data-driven performance analysis.
